- Hooks For Heroes, Casting our Support for Those Who Served
- Annual Fishing Tournament that give 100% of the earned proceeds to Operation Gift Cards
Halloween Yacht Club’s Hooks for Heroes is an annual fishing tournament that was created to help support our heroes who serve and have served our country. We also honor our local first responders who put their life on the line each and every day. Hooks for Heroes is a community event and all items are donated from our local businesses and the general public. Having the support of our community we are able to contribute 100% of the proceeds collected to a 501-c3 organization. This year’s proceeds will go to the Stamford DAV Chapter 13 “Operation Gift Cards”.
Operation Gift Cards (for our wounded troops and their families) is a program started by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 13, a 501(c)3 (all volunteer) non-profit, which has organized the delivery of over $944,800 in Post Exchange gift cards and corporate donations to the wounded troops at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Hospital in Bethesda, MD during 119 monthly/bimonthly visits during the last 9 1/2 years.
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is one of the nation’s largest and most renowned military medical centers. WRNMMC is comprised of nearly 8,500 dedicated staff members who make it their daily mission to achieve the vision and mission of our medical center. That vision is to serve military families and our nation’s active duty, returning war heroes, veterans and our Nation’s leaders.
